The Atlanta Braves are off to a rough start in 2012
The Braves were swept by the New York Mets last weekend as they were outscored by a combined score of 12-7. The Braves only hit .151 with a .528 OPS against the Mets. 1B Freddie Freeman was 3 for 12 (.250 avg, .500 OPS) with 1 run scored over the weekend and he was the Braves’ best hitter. The Braves had a 4.50 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP against the Mets. The got a good start out of Tommy Hanson, who is 0-1 with a 1.80 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. But, Jair Jurrjens (0-1, 6.23 ERA and a 2.31 WHIP) and Mike Minor (0-1 with a 10.80 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP) were both awful for the Braves in their first starts of the 2012 season. The Braves will travel to Houston to take on the 2-1 Astros next.
Small sample size, still 150+ games left. All 30 teams will have slumps and hot streaks during the year. Let’s wait it out and see, the Braves have a ton of talent.
