The Atlanta Braves have acquired 29-year old switch-hitting infielder Ruben Gotay from the Blue Jays for cash considerations. Gotay played in 22 games in AAA-ball for the Jays and he was 27 for 78 (.346 avg, .819 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 0 homers, 14 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Gotay played for the Braves back in 2008 when he appeared in 88 games in which he was 24 for 102 (.235 avg, .665 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 2 homers, 8 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He has now played in 316 games in his first four years in the majors and he is 185 of 726 (.255 avg, .685 OPS) with 84 runs scored, 12 homers, 77 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Gotay could help the Braves out later this year, so I like this pickup.
