25-year old lefty swinging 3B Juan Francisco was tearing the cover off of the baseball in July, whenever Chipper Jones needed a breather. Francisco played in 17 games in July for the Reds and he was 11 of 27 (.407 avg, 1.262 OPS) with 3 runs scored, 3 homers and 9 RBIs. Francisco has now played in 68 games overall this year for the Reds and he is 36 of 139 (.259 avg, .779 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 8 homers, 26 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Francisco will likely be the Braves’ starting 3B in 2013, but for now they just need him to hit the ball when he’s called upon off the bench.
