Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants
The Giants will try to run a balanced offense against against a Falcons defense that is a tad soft against the run (121.0 yards rushing) and a bit giving in the passing game (204.0 yards per game). Look for Brandon Jacobs (126 yards rushing, 4.8 ypc) and Derrick Ward (409 yards rushing, 122 yards receiving) should really test the linebacking corps of the Falcons. But, Michael Boley and Keith Brooking could be up to the challenge. If that is the case the Giants should have no problem throwing the ball against the Falcons. Eli Manning (1,076 yards, 9 TD passes) should be able to find Plaxico Burress (24 rec, 410 yards, 7 TDs), Amani Toomer (19 rec, 217 yards) and Jeremy Shockey (18 rec, 230 yards) down the field against the Falcons defense.
The Falcons could have some success throwing the football as long as they give Harrington time to throw. That will be easier said than done against the Giants defense which already has 17 sacks this season. Couple that with the fact that Harrington will be having an undrafted rookie (Renardo Foster) blocking his blind side and he better get rid of the ball really fast. Roddy White (21 rec, 356 yards), Alge Crumpler (18 rec, 194 yards) and Michael Jenkins (16 rec, 170 yards) could find some room to get open against a secondary that is allowing 219.4 yards passing per game this season. Warrick Dunn (249 yards rushing, 3.4 ypc) and Jerious Norwood (147 yards rushing, 4.2 ypc) will likely find yards tough to come by running the ball as the Giants are allowing only 95.2 yards rushing per game and 3.6 yards per carry.
PREDICTION:Â The furious pass rush of the Giants will lead Joey Harrington to throw a few passes to them and that will be way too much for them to overcome as the Giants win big.
